Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

We understand people often have questions about how these types of programs work. Here are answers to some commonly asked questions.

    • What does Johnson & Johnson Patient Assistance Foundation, Inc. (JJPAF) do?
    • JJPAF provides prescription products free of charge to uninsured patients who lack financial resources.
    • I am looking for funding or a grant. Does JJPAF provide individuals with grants or funding?
    • No. JJPAF's sole mission is to provide prescription products to uninsured patients who lack financial resources.
    • I am looking for Johnson & Johnson baby products and over-the-counter medicines. Does JJPAF offer these items?
    • No. JJPAF's sole mission is to provide prescription products to uninsured patients who lack financial resources.
    • How can I apply for patient assistance?
    • You can begin the application process by calling the program at 1-800-652-6227. You can also download and print an application from our website. Once completed, applications can be sent to the program by mail or fax.
    • Why do I need to have my healthcare provider involved in the application process?
    • JJPAF only provides prescription products. In order to provide you with the correct medication, a U.S.-licensed healthcare provider must sponsor your enrollment.
    • Do I need to live in the United States to participate in JJPAF programs?
    • Yes. Our programs are for patients who live in the United States or a United States territory.
    • Is there any fee to apply or do I have to pay a copay for my medicine?
    • There is no fee to apply to our programs, and there are no copays for your medicine.
    • How is the medicine distributed?
    • Some medicines are available through a retail pharmacy card. Some medicines are shipped directly to your healthcare provider's office.
    • How will I know if I qualify?
    • Every patient receives a letter informing them of their eligibility. A copy of that letter is also sent to the patient's provider.
    • How long am I eligible for the program?
    • A patient is eligible for up to 12 months of assistance. If longer assistance is required, patients can reapply on a yearly basis.
    • How long does it take to process an application?
    • Completed applications are usually processed within a few business days.
    • Do I need to show proof of income?
    • Yes. We request to see a copy of your most recent federal tax return. If you do not file taxes, you can check a box on the application that indicates this.
    • Do I need to reapply if I need another medication offered by the JJPAF Patient Assistance Program?
    • No. Your eligibility will be updated once we are notified of your need for another product. You can simply contact the program to begin that process. A prescription for that product may be necessary. Not all products have the same eligibility criteria, so you could potentially be eligible to receive one product but not another. In general, the eligibility is different for products you take yourself versus those a healthcare provider would need to administer.
